A boat with 100 passengers on board, has capsized in Borgu local government area of Niger, the State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) has said.
The Director-General of the agency, Abdullahi Baba-Arah, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, said the boat took off from Dugga Mashaya in Dugga ward heading towards Wara market in Kebbi state on Monday.
According to him, though the agency had not ascertained the number of deaths and survivors, the boat was conveying 100 passengers, with their goods, grains and other valuables.
He however explained that search and rescue operations were ongoing by local divers, the agency desk officers and local government officials.
