ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State governor, Umar Mohammed Bago has urged residents of the Kagara community in the Rafi local government area of Niger State to exercise understanding with his administration over the recent bandits attacks in the area.
Bago stated this in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim on Sunday in Minna.
Bago said that the government was aware of the insecurity in the area and was working closely with security agencies to ensure citizens’ safety.
“While commiserating with the families of the victims, the governor appealed to the people to show more understanding with his administration as he is not leaving anything to chance as regards securing of lives and property of the citizens of the state.
“He also called on the people to be security cautious and provide intelligence to relevant authorities for proactive steps in addressing the situation.
The governor equally commended security agencies for their efforts at tackling insecurity in the affected areas.
“Governor Umaru Bago applauded the bravery of the security personnel who engaged the bandits and assured them of continuous support as his administration has prioritized the safety and well-being of the citizens of the state.
“He prayed for the quick recovery of the two injured security operatives and safe return of those kidnapped,” the statement said.
According to the statement, security operatives stationed at the Garin Gabas Primary School were reported to have engaged the bandits while passing through one of their major routes in the area with cattle suspected to have been rustled and two of the security personnel sustained injuries.
The statement confirmed the abduction of three people while some injured security personnel were receiving treatment in a government health facility.
