ASHENEWS reports that the wife of the Niger State governor, Fatima Bago has donated food items and drugs to children at the Niger state orphanages Minna, as part of activities marking the administration’s one year in office.
Handing out the donations on Tuesday at the Niger State Government Orphanage, the wife of the governor assured the children that the government will carry them along in all its activities.
The wife of the governor, also assured the child that the government would prioritise their safety and well-being.
“We have not started anything, we have so much plan for them and they will be included in the plans. Moving forward, better days are ahead for them.”
On the ICT room at the orphanage which was recently gutted by fire, the wife of the governor promised to work with the ministry to ensure its renovation.
In her remarks, the Niger State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Titi Auta lauded the Wife of the Governor for her commitment to the welfare of children and other vulnerable groups in the state.
Meanwhile, the Niger State Government has also donated food items and drugs to inmates at the New and Old Correctional Centres in Minna.
The visit is also part of activities marking the first anniversary of Governor Umaru Bago-led administration.
The Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman who led some of the Committee members for the first anniversary of the present administration to the centres said that efforts are on to ensure clemency for about 50 convicted inmates in the two centres.
The SSG disclosed that after the clemency, the released inmates would be engaged in the Agricultural programme of the State government to make them useful to themselves and the society.
The Committee members were also at the Government Remand Home where the Committee interacted with the inmates and assured them that the State Government would review their cases and those reformed, would be released.
