The African Women in Media will holds its fifth annual conference, tagged #AWiM21, in December to deliberate on how to build resilience and enhance the future of women and media in Africa.
This is contained in a statement issued by Joy Adigwe, Officer in charge of Community Engagement, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Adigwe said the conference would feature over 100 speakers, 16 panels, two keynote sessions, four workshops and four roundtables.
She said the conference, with the theme “Building Resilience: The Future of Media in Africa’, would bring together experts to discuss a range of critical media issues.
“Issues ranging from ‘Reporting and Investigating Protests’ to ‘Media Representation’, ‘Journalism Sustainability’, ‘Media, Women and Development Agendas’, and much more, will be on the table.
“AWiM21 Keynote Speakers this year include Phathiswa Magopeni, Editor-in-Chief and Group Executive, SABC News & Current Affairs.
“Magopeni is a leading figure in journalism in South Africa and an academic, having taught at the University of the Western and University of Cape Town.
“Also, Dr Sarah Macharia, Gender and Communication Manager, WACC and GAMAG General Secretary is also among other amazing speakers and panelists featuring,” Adigwe said.
