ASHENEWS reports that the Northern Democratic Forum, has rose from an emergency meeting, condemning the opposition by a section of Nigerians, who they alleged are “certain sponsored elements” within the northern youth, to the zoning of the President of the Senate.
The Forum in a statement by its National Chairman, Dr. Jibril Tafida, and made available to ASHENEWS on Sunday, noted “that the decision by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone the Senate presidency is based on principles of fairness, justice, and equity.
“It is not about who gave the party votes, but ensuring that all regions and religions are duly represented at the highest levels of government. It is worth noting that the President, Speaker, and Chief Justice of the federation are all Muslims.

“We strongly condemn the move by these elements as it is capable of bringing disunity to the already fragile unity of the country.
“The decision to zone the Senate presidency is a move towards inclusiveness and should be commended by all well-meaning Nigerians.
“The Northern Democratic Forum urges Nigerians to condemn this move in the strongest terms possible.
“We call on all stakeholders to ensure that unity, justice and equity continue to govern our political processes,” the statement reads.
