In a generous initiative led by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, 5,000 households in Osun Central Senatorial District received food hampers yesterday to celebrate the 2025 Yuletide season.
The event was organised by Femi Oyetola under the Ileri-Oluwa initiative, aimed at supporting low-income residents across the ten local governments in the district.
The distribution took place at the Ileri-Oluwa office in Osogbo and included various beneficiary groups such as the elderly, orphanages, people with disabilities (PWDs), and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
Femi Oyetola said, “This initiative is the third edition aimed at extending a hand of love towards the vulnerable, aged, and PWDs in Osun Central. Each festive season, our goal is to make everyone happy; thus, for this edition, we are providing a food hamper gift for 5,000 households across ten local government areas.”
Rev. John Adeleke, the Osun State Chairman of CAN, praised the minister’s initiative, stating that it would significantly alleviate hunger during the festive period. He said that the food packages would be distributed among vulnerable members across the state.
Representing CAN, Apostle Samson Opadotun encouraged wealthy Nigerians to extend kindness and support to those in need, especially during festive seasons and difficult times.
Adewale Nafiu, the APC leader for PWDs, stated that over 100 households of people with disabilities benefited from the initiative, illustrating the programme’s inclusive approach across political divides.
