Vice President Kashim Shettima on Wednesday described Taraba State as an untapped agricultural powerhouse, brimming with investment potential.
Speaking at the Taraba State International Investment Summit (TARAVEST 2025) held in Jalingo, Shettima said the state is richly endowed with agricultural resources that remain largely underutilized.
“Taraba is an agricultural powerhouse yet to be harnessed,” he stated, adding that modern agriculture goes far beyond traditional tools like hoes.
He also highlighted the mining sector as another area of untapped potential, stressing that Taraba’s wealth is too vast to be reduced to mere statistics.
The Vice President assured that the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is fully committed to supporting local investment to drive wealth creation and sustainable development.
However, he emphasized that the transformation of natural resources into wealth can only be realized through unity and collective efforts.
Shettima further noted that effective resource conversion would ensure Nigeria remains viable despite its rapidly growing population. He warned that poor economic planning could pose serious risks to the country’s future.
In his remarks, Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba assured investors that the state is safe and peaceful, with a secure environment conducive for investment.
“We have guaranteed peace and security. Taraba is ready for business,” the governor said.
He expressed appreciation to the Vice President and other dignitaries for attending the summit, warmly saying, “You have come home.”
