In a significant move to enhance agricultural cooperation, Nigeria and Pakistan are set to explore new partnership opportunities aimed at addressing food security challenges and climate-related issues.
This announcement was made by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Sabi Abdullahi, during a courtesy visit by Pakistan’s High Commissioner, Retired Major General Sohail Ahmad-Khan, in Abuja.
Senator Abdullahi emphasized the longstanding bilateral relations between the two nations and expressed Nigeria’s readiness to collaborate on innovative solutions that benefit both countries.
“Nigeria is prepared to partner with friends to create solutions that work for both nations,” he stated, highlighting President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to improving food security and addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
During the visit, the Pakistani High Commissioner, Retired Major General Sohail Ahmad-Khan underscored the country’s willingness to share its expertise with Nigeria through training, research, and innovation.
According to him, Pakistan has made remarkable strides in agriculture, becoming a global leader in the production of cotton, sugar, rice, and meat.
He further expressed confidence that the knowledge transfer between the two nations could lead to significant advancements in their agricultural sectors.
The event was marked by the official presentation of a letter from the High Commissioner to the Minister, further solidifying the nations’ intent to deepen their partnership.
