The Kano State House of Assembly has commended the Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) for its quality infrastructure and impact on the state’s agricultural landscape, describing the initiative as a model for sustainable development.
During an oversight visit to project sites on Wednesday, Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, Ahmad Ibrahim Karaye, expressed satisfaction with the quality of facilities inspected, including the Gwale Veterinary Reference Laboratory and several roads constructed under the project.
“I am not only surprised but impressed. For a very long time, I have not seen good quality projects like the ones I saw during this inspection. Even cynics will appreciate the work you have done,” Karaye said, praising the project’s adherence to standards and long-term value.
The lawmaker encouraged other ministries and agencies in the state to emulate KSADP’s standard, which he said is critical to fast-tracking development across the state. He also acknowledged the support of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF) in funding the initiative, adding that their contributions are significantly aiding development efforts in Kano.
Speaking during the visit, the KSADP Project Coordinator, Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, said the inspection was a valuable opportunity to brief lawmakers on the project’s progress and challenges. He expressed hope that the Assembly would support the project in resolving its lingering issues.
The KSADP, funded by the IsDB and LLF, is focused on boosting agricultural productivity, improving livestock health, and enhancing rural infrastructure to support livelihoods across Kano State.
