The Jigawa Government has stocked Birninkudu Dam with 18,000 fingerlings to enhance fish production in the area.
Mr Sulaiman Aminu, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Jigawa Ministry of Agriculture, made this known in Dutse on Sunday.
Aminu said: “the fingerlings were released into the dam on Thursday.
“This gesture is part of Gov. Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda to improve the living standard of the citizens.
“It is aimed at boosting fishing activities among the people of the community.”
In 2016, the state government stocked Warwade Dam in Dutse Local Government with 300,000 assorted fingerlings.
Also, fishing gears such as nets, hooks, fishing containers and canoes were also procured and distributed to fishermen in the community.
