ASHENEWS reports that the joint border patrol team of the Nigeria Customs Service in Sokoto, also tagged “Sector IV”, has intercepted large quantities of food items allegedly being exported to Niger Republic.
The coordinating comptroller, Kolapo Oladeji said the trucks were seized by customs officers in the Kajiji community along the Sokoto-Kebbi road.
According to him, the trucks which contained food items were heading to the neighboring Niger Republic via the Kebbi border.

“We will leave no stone unturned to block food smuggling out of the country because of the current situation,” he said.
Oladeji, during a separate visit to Kebbi Area Command and Sokoto-Zamfara Area Command of the Service, assured that the Nigeria Customs Service has worked out mechanisms to block food smuggling out of the country.
“The personnel of the Joint Border Patrol Sector 4 are doing everything possible to block smugglers from smuggling food items out of the country, so as to guard against the worsening situation of food prices in the country.
He said the Sector 4 team of the Joint border Patrol had seized ₦19 million worth of sex enhancement drugs smuggled into the country.
Other seisures, he revealed, included contraband pharmaceuticals products, Premium Motor Spirit PMS, second hand clothing and other prohibited items.
