This is contained in a statement by the chairperson of the Society, Prof. Bola Boboye made available to ASHENEWS on Saturday.
According to Boboye, the postponement became necessary because the earlier days coincided with local government election in Oyo state where the conference is scheduled to hold.
“This is to notify distinguished members of the Biotechnology Society of Nigeria, BSN, especially SouthWest Chapter and more especially participants at the forthcoming 2nd Annual International Conference and Pre-Conference Workshop, that the Conference has unavoidably been postponed from 20th – 21st May, 2021 at IAR&T to June 2nd 2021.
“The Pre- Conference Workshop too will now take place on 31st of May – 1st of June, 2021 at NACGRAB while the real conference will take place from 2nd – 4th June, 2021 (2 weeks shift).
“Please note that venues remain the same. The decision became necessary in view of the fact that the earlier dates clash with that of local government election,” the statement reads.
BSN-SW EXCO regretted any inconvenience that the shift of date would cause participants.
