The Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, has declared Friday, December 1, a public holiday.
The day has been set aside to mark the Farms Day occasion.
“The general public is hereby informed that Friday, December 1, 2023, which marks Farmers’ Day, is a statutory public holiday and should be observed as such throughout the count,” the Minister said in a statement.
National Farmers’ Day is an annual celebration of farmers and fishermen, observed on the first Friday of December.
On Farmers’ Day, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture honours and awards special awards to deserving farmers and fishermen based on their practices and output.
