The House of Representatives Committee on Agricultural Production and Services on Monday held a one-day public hearing on three key bills aimed at advancing agricultural reform, ensuring food security, and promoting sustainable economic growth.
The hearing, chaired by Rep. Bello Ka’oje, served as a platform for engagement among major stakeholders across the agricultural value chain. Ka’oje said all submissions received would guide the Committee’s recommendations to the House.

The bills under consideration include:
A Bill for an Act to Amend the National Agricultural Development Fund (Establishment) Act; A Bill for an Act to Establish the National Farm Settlements Agency to promote agricultural development, ensure food security, and foster economic growth through agro-allied industrial processing zones; and A Bill for an Act to Establish the National Rice Production, Processing and Research Institute, Argungu, Kebbi State, and for related matters.
The engagement underscores the participatory approach of the House in shaping agricultural policy and ensuring that legislative interventions are informed by expert, stakeholder, and citizen input — in line with the 10th Assembly’s Legislative Agenda (2023–2027) on economic diversification and national food security.
