The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunshine and cloudiness across the country from Sunday to Tuesday.
The weather outlook, released on Saturday in Abuja, indicated sunny skies over the northern region throughout the forecast period.
NiMet said the North Central region would experience sunny conditions with patches of clouds, with isolated thunderstorms possible over parts of Kogi, Niger, the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, and Kwara states during the day.
In the southern region, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are expected, with isolated morning thunderstorms accompanied by light rain over Lagos, Ondo, Ogun, Delta, and Cross River states. Later in the day, moderate rain and thunderstorms are forecast for Ondo, Ogun, Ekiti, Osun, Edo, Imo, Enugu, Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Delta states.
On Monday, NiMet predicts sunny skies in the northern region, with isolated thunderstorms over southern Taraba State. The North Central region will have sunny intervals with clouds, while southern states may experience morning light rain and afternoon moderate thunderstorms in various areas.
For Tuesday, the northern region will remain sunny, while the North Central region sees clouds and sunny intervals, with isolated thunderstorms expected over the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, and Niger states later in the day. Southern states will experience morning light rain in parts of Lagos, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, and Cross River, followed by moderate afternoon thunderstorms in Ondo, Edo, Imo, Bayelsa, and Delta.
NiMet warned that strong winds may precede thunderstorms and advised the public to secure loose objects, avoid driving in heavy rain, disconnect electrical appliances, and stay clear of tall trees.
