The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a mix of sunny and thundery weather conditions across the country from Wednesday to Friday.
In its three-day weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja, NiMet forecast sunny skies over the northern region during the morning hours on Wednesday, with isolated thunderstorms likely over southern parts of Taraba State later in the day.
“For the central region, sunny skies with patches of clouds are expected in the morning, while isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains are likely over parts of Kogi, Kwara, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Nasarawa states in the afternoon and evening hours,” the agency stated.
NiMet also predicted a cloudy atmosphere over the southern region with morning thunderstorms and light rains expected in parts of Edo, Ogun, Ondo, Ebonyi, Cross River, Rivers, Lagos, and Akwa Ibom states. Thunderstorms with moderate rains are anticipated across most parts of the region later in the day.
On Thursday, the agency projected sunny skies over the northern region in the morning, with chances of isolated thunderstorms over southern Taraba later in the day. The central region will experience partly cloudy skies in the morning and isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains over Kwara, Kogi, Benue, the FCT, and Nasarawa in the afternoon and evening hours.
The southern region will witness morning thunderstorms and light rains in parts of Ondo, Imo, Edo, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states, followed by widespread thunderstorms with moderate rains later in the day.
According to NiMet, Friday will begin with sunny skies over the northern region, followed by isolated thunderstorms in southern Taraba later in the day. The central region will also experience sunny conditions with patches of clouds in the morning, giving way to isolated thunderstorms and moderate rains in Benue, the FCT, Kwara, Kogi, and Nasarawa states by afternoon.
The southern region is expected to remain cloudy with morning thunderstorms and light rains over Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Ebonyi, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states, and moderate thunderstorms later in the day.
