The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and rainfall across parts of Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday.
In its outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet said Jigawa, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi, Yobe, and Katsina will experience thunderstorms with moderate rainfall on Monday morning, while Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba will have rains later in the day.
The agency warned of possible flash floods in Bauchi, Jigawa, Katsina, Kaduna, and Kano during the period.
It also forecasted cloudiness and light to moderate rainfall in Niger, Benue, FCT, Plateau, and Nasarawa, with a high risk of flooding in parts of Plateau. In the South, light to moderate rains are expected in Ondo, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.
NiMet added that on Tuesday, sunny skies with patchy clouds will dominate the North, while thunderstorms and rains will persist in Adamawa, Taraba, and nearby states. Moderate rains will continue in the central and southern regions.
By Wednesday, sunshine and thunderstorms are expected in the North, with cloudy skies and moderate rains in the central region. The South, including Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Cross River, will see morning showers and heavier rains later in the day.
NiMet advised residents in flood-prone areas to take precautions, avoid driving in heavy rain, secure loose objects, and disconnect electrical appliances during storms.
The agency also urged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports and encouraged the public to visit www.nimet.gov.ng for regular updates.
