The Proprietor of Nacabs Polytechnic, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, Mr. David Abuluya, has urged residents to maintain a clean environment and avoid contact with rats to prevent Lassa Fever and other diseases.
Abuluya made the call on Friday in Akwanga during an interview with newsmen while discussing the school’s environmental cleanliness.
He stressed that unhygienic surroundings are harmful to human health, emphasizing the need for everyone to keep their environment clean.
“People should prevent rats from accessing food to avoid contracting Lassa Fever and other diseases. Store all food items and water in rodent-proof containers and cover them properly,” Abuluya advised.
He expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness of the school environment, saying, “As you can see, the school environment is clean. That is what I always preach to staff and students. Let’s maintain strict hygiene, including personal and environmental cleanliness, proper garbage disposal, and general sanitation.”
Abuluya, who is also the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Nasarawa State and President of the Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA), further urged citizens to avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the interest of public health.
