Taraba state governor, Agbu Kefas says the newly-completed Kashimbila dam and airport in Takum Local Government area of Taraba have the potential to boost tourism in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed on Friday by the Special Adviser to Taraba Government on Media and Digital Communication, Mr Emmanuel Bello, and made available to newsmen in Jalingo.
It stated that the dam, with an installed capacity of 40 megawatts, was a massive boost to electricity in the state, especially in the southern parts, including Wukari, Takum, Donga, Ussa, and Ibi.

It added that other neighbouring states were also gearing up to benefit from the project.
The statement also reported Gov. Kefas said a three-star hotel would also be built around the dam to enhance the tourism aspect.
The governor stressed the need for peace in the region for the maximization of the projects.
According to the statement, anticipation is very high as citizens expect a tremendous impact on their lives when the two landmark projects are launched.
The dam is not just about electricity but also for irrigational purposes and the supply of water in the area.
The Kashimbilla airport will make it the second airport in the state with huge potential for cargo transportation.
“The economic benefits to Taraba State and environs is beyond quantifying,” the statement added.
