The Malam Madori Local Government Council in Jigawa state has carried out a three-day fumigation exercise to combat mosquitoes in the area.
The council’s Information Officer, Musa Muhammad said this in a statement made available in Dutse.
Leading the exercise on Friday in Malam Madori, the council’s Chairman, Salisu Sani, stated that the initiative aimed to eliminate mosquito breeding and other insect infestations in metropolitan areas.
He explained that the fumigation targeted drains, culverts, and other mosquito breeding sites.
The information officer also quoted the council’s Head of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Shehu Sani, as saying that the exercise would be extended to markets, motor parks, and health facilities across the council’s 11 wards.
According to him, sufficient insecticidal chemicals have been procured to ensure the exercise is successfully conducted across all parts of the local government area, including Garin Gabas and Waje Districts.
The exercise is being conducted in collaboration with the Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency (JISEPA).
