The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Port Harcourt checked the flooding in some communities in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area, Rivers State.
This happened after Mr. Victor Obuzur Chukwuemele, who represents the area in government, told NEMA about the flooding and asked for help.
NEMA quickly sent a team to visit the places affected by the flood. They worked with the Rivers State Emergency Management Agency (RSEMA) to see how bad the damage was and what help people needed.
They found out the flooding happened because of heavy rain that lasted for many weeks. The flood damaged many homes and public buildings.
Farmlands were underwater, crops were ruined, and people’s jobs were affected. Many people had to leave their homes and stayed with family or friends nearby.
A community leader named Mr. Eze thanked the Federal Government and NEMA for acting quickly. He said their help gave people hope. But he also asked for more help to reduce the suffering caused by the flood.
