Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the redeployment of top officials across several key government agencies as part of a broader strategy to strengthen the state’s development and environmental management framework.
The announcement was made on Monday in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to the statement, Dr. Muhammad S. Khalil has been redeployed from the Watershed, Erosion, and Climate Change Management Agency (WECCMA) to serve as the Acting Managing Director of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB).
Lamin Mukhtar Hassan, who was serving as Deputy Managing Director of REMASAB, has now been assigned to the role of Deputy Managing Director of the Sustainable Kano Project.
Similarly, Mustapha Sulaiman Mainasara, previously Senior Special Reporter at REMASAB, has been moved to the Kano Afforestation Program (KNAP) in the same reporting capacity.
Additionally, Dr. Mahmoud Abba has been appointed as the new Acting Executive Secretary of WECCMA, succeeding Dr. Khalil.
The redeployments take immediate effect and are aimed at optimizing service delivery, particularly in environmental sustainability, sanitation, and urban development—priority areas under Governor Yusuf’s administration.
“These changes are part of the governor’s commitment to reposition key institutions for maximum efficiency and impact,” the statement added.
The shuffle comes amid the administration’s push to improve refuse management, erosion control, climate resilience, and sustainable development across Kano State.
