Dangote applauds Tinubu’s flood control efforts

Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Group, has praised President Bola Tinubu for his strong leadership, especially in improving infrastructure and managing flood problems.

In an open letter, Dangote thanked the President for his efforts, pointing out major projects like the Bar Beach Land Reclamation (now Eko Atlantic City) and new highways being built across the country.

The letter, titled *“Open Letter To President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR: Appreciation,”* was shared online by Bayo Onanuga, who advises the President on information and strategy.

Dangote compared the success of Eko Atlantic City to a deadly flood that recently happened in Kerr County, Texas, USA, where more than 100 people died.

He praised President Tinubu for starting the Eko Atlantic City project, a 1,000-hectare modern city protected by a long sea wall. This wall has helped stop ocean erosion and made more land available for use.

Dangote said that people living in Victoria Island are now safer and better off because of this project. He thanked Tinubu for stopping ocean surges and reducing flooding in areas like Ahmadu Bello Way and other nearby streets.

Apart from flood control, Dangote also praised the President for starting big road projects like the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway and the Sokoto-Badagry superhighway.

He mentioned that the Sokoto-Badagry road was planned 48 years ago but is only now being built. Both highways are being handled by Hitech Construction Company, which he called a top engineering firm.

Dangote also said that Nigeria’s work to reclaim land is similar to what the Netherlands has done in Zeeland, where they turned flooded land into dry, useful land for farming and homes.

He said this shows the smart and hardworking spirit behind the Bar Beach project, and he praised Tinubu for leading it.

As part of its social responsibility, Dangote’s company also sent its sympathies to the families affected by the flood in Texas.

Dangote ended the letter by saying his foundation would soon launch a Climate Fund to help areas in Nigeria that are most at risk of flooding and other natural disasters.

Reacting to the letter, Bayo Onanuga said Dangote’s praise shows an honest view of Tinubu’s work and challenges the claims from the opposition that the President hasn’t done much in the past two years.
