Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Monday sent his condolences to the families and victims of the Namnai boat accident, which led to the death of three people.
In a statement released in Jalingo by Hon. Emmanuel Bello, the Governor’s media adviser, Dr. Kefas said the accident was very sad and unfortunate.
Part of the statement said: “The Governor is very sad about the accident, which happened because the Namnai bridge on the Jalingo-Wukari Federal Highway has been broken for over a year and has not been fixed.”
The statement also said that both natural causes and human mistakes led to the accident. It added that people lost their lives again because they didn’t have life jackets.
The Governor said that in times like this, it is important to think about solutions and how to prevent such problems in the future. He prayed for the souls of the dead and asked God to give strength to their families.
Dr. Kefas also used the moment to tell the Federal Government and its agencies that the Taraba State Government is ready to work with them to quickly rebuild the bridge. This will help the people and stop such accidents from happening again.
