The Benue State Government has introduced a digital system for the issuance and transfer of land titles to eliminate bureaucracy and reduce hardship in land administration.
Mr Terna Kawen, Director of Capacity Building and Stakeholders Engagement at the Benue Geographic Information Service (BENGIS), disclosed this on Wednesday in Makurdi.
Kawen said Governor Hyacinth Alia had directed total compliance with the new online application process.
He explained that the initiative was implemented by BENGIS in collaboration with the Ministry of Lands and Survey and the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC).
According to him, the system features a state-of-the-art online application portal that allows landowners and prospective applicants to process land titles and title transfers from anywhere.
“The portal, powered by BDIC, is accessible at [www.bengis.benuestate.gov.ng](http://www.bengis.benuestate.gov.ng) and is designed to simplify land transactions, improve transparency and eliminate the rigours of repeated travel to the BENGIS office in Makurdi,” he said.
Kawen noted that during a recent stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House in Makurdi, the governor expressed concern over the prolonged procedures previously associated with acquiring land titles.
He said the governor emphasised that the digitisation policy was aimed at easing the burden on citizens and promoting efficiency in land administration across the state.
Kawen added that the governor had directed that all applications for land titles and title transfers must henceforth be processed exclusively through the online platform.
According to him, the new system enables applicants to submit requests, track the status of their applications and complete required processes remotely.
He urged members of the public to take advantage of the initiative, describing it as a significant step towards modern governance and improved ease of doing business in Benue State.
