The Sokoto State Government has promised to keep focusing on improving the electricity supply across the state. This is to help boost the economy and improve the lives of its people.
The State Commissioner for Energy and Petroleum Resources, Hon. Sanusi Danfulani, gave this assurance during a visit to the Durbawa community in Kware Local Government Area, where electricity has just been restored.
The Durbawa community had been without electricity for almost a year. Danfulani said bringing back power to the area would help the local economy grow and improve the lives of the residents.
He added that the governor is making serious efforts to improve the electricity supply by working on the state’s Independent Power Plant (IPP).
Danfulani explained that the power plant project is important for ensuring steady electricity and supporting businesses and industries in Sokoto.
He said the project is now 80 percent complete. He also cleared up rumours by saying the state government is funding the project alone and is not working with the federal government on it.
Earlier, the commissioner had visited the Sokoto State House of Assembly after missing an earlier invitation from the House Committee on Power.
He said he missed the first meeting because he was attending a State Executive Council meeting with the governor at the time.
“The issue has now been resolved,” he said. “I explained the situation to the Speaker and committee members, and they accepted my reason.”
Danfulani promised to keep working closely with the lawmakers to support the progress and development of Sokoto State.
