The Sokoto State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has suspended six secondary school principals for misconduct. Some of them were accused of collecting fees illegally for Junior Secondary School exam results.
The suspended principals are from these schools: Nana Girls Secondary School, Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Gagi, GDSS Mana, Giginya Memorial College, Mana Basic Secondary School, and GDSS .
According to the Ministry’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Iya, some principals were suspended for collecting illegal fees, while others were punished for disobeying orders.
The Education Commissioner, Prof. Ahmad Ladan Ala, approved the suspensions and also set up a five-member panel to investigate the complaints.
The investigation panel is led by Prof. Mustapha Namakka Tukur. Other members are from the State Arabic and Islamic Education Board, the Ministry’s Quality Assurance Department, the Teachers’ Service Board, and the Planning Department.
The Ministry has told all the suspended principals to hand over their duties to their vice principals in charge of administration.
The Ministry said this action shows its strong commitment to discipline, transparency, and accountability in public schools across the state.
