Gov. Ahmed Ododo of Kogi has reiterated his administration’s strong commitment to education, describing it as the key to growth and a brighter future for the people.

He made the statement on Monday at the 2025 Igala Education Summit in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area, an event organised to mark the 25th anniversary of the Igala Education Foundation.

Represented by his Deputy, Mr Joel Salifu, he commended the foundation’s leaders and supporters for their unwavering dedication to advancing education and positively impacting children and families across Igala and Bassa land.

Ododo said that the late Prof. Francis Idachaba, founder of the foundation, was a distinguished educationist whose vision had enabled many young people to access education and build better lives.

He emphasised that education remained a top priority of his administration.

He highlighted policies such as free and compulsory education from nursery to secondary school, payment of WAEC, NECO, and JAMB fees, improved school facilities, and better support for teachers.

Ododo stressed that government would not achieve this alone and called on parents, community leaders, and stakeholders to continue supporting the Igala Education Foundation in reaching more students.

He congratulated the foundation on its 25 years of service and wished it continued success in the years ahead.

Earlier, the Chairperson of the 2025 Igala Education Summit, Mrs Achenyo Obaro, said the foundation, established by the late Idachaba, had positively impacted lives over the past twenty-five years.

She added that it had shaped futures and opened new opportunities through education, empowering children and families across Igala land.

She called for deeper involvement and partnerships from concerned Igala and Bassa sons and daughters to further advance education in the district.
