The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone A, has commended Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for approving a new salary structure for staff of state-owned tertiary institutions.
Governor Sani had on Thursday announced the approval, which covers lecturers and staff of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences and Technology, and the College of Education, Gidan Waya.
In a statement issued to journalists on Sunday in Kaduna, the Secretary-General of NANS Zone A, Ibrahim Bashir, said the issue had lingered for over 15 years, affecting morale, productivity, and stability within the state’s tertiary institutions.
“This marks the fulfillment of a long-awaited demand,” Bashir said.
He noted that the governor’s decisive action had resolved a long-standing challenge that several past administrations overlooked.
According to him, the gesture has reignited hope and restored confidence in government’s responsiveness to the needs of its citizens, especially in the education sector.
Bashir added that Sani’s leadership reflected empathy, dialogue, and genuine concern for educational advancement across the state.
“By prioritizing the welfare of lecturers and strengthening institutional harmony, the governor has demonstrated his belief that the future of Kaduna and Nigeria lies in investing in education and human capital development,” he stated.
He commended Sani’s visionary leadership and unwavering support for education at all levels, pledging NANS’ continued partnership with his administration to build a state where learning, innovation, and youth empowerment thrive.
