ASHENEWS reports that the Enugu State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology has promised to collaborate with stakeholders to revive the education sector in the state.
The committee chairman, Mr Osita Eze made the promise, in Enugu on Wednesday during an oversight visit to the chairman of the Enugu state Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB).
Eze noted that to revive the education system, the Committee needed strong collaboration with all the relevant stakeholders in the sector to achieve quality basic education in the state.
He expressed the committee’s readiness to maximally support ENSUBEB, stating that they would look at the existing laws with the view to effecting amendments where needed.
According to him, the visit is to intimate the Board on the transformative agenda of Gov. Peter Mbah’s administration bearing in mind that education is the bedrock of any society.
While contributing, a member of the Committee, Mr Anthony Nwankwo, said the visit was advisory aimed at extending hands of fellowship to the board.
Nwankwo lauded the ENUSBEB Chairman for his hard work, saying that he was tested and trusted, having served meritoriously in different capacity.
He charged the Board Members, whom he described as thoroughbred in the system, to deliver on their mandate for effective functioning of the board.
Also, another member of the committee, Mr Malachy Onyechi, said that the 8th assembly was out for serious business to deliver quality legislation and good governance to the people of the state.
Onyechi noted that they would work collectively to take the education sector in the state to an enviable height.
Responding, the ENSUBEB Chairman, Mr. G.O.C Ajah, thanked the Committee for the visit describing it as a welcome development that would help both establishments to maintain the innovations of the governor.
Ajah commended the governor on the caliber of the Board Members appointed to manage the affairs of the board.
He expressed confidence that they would build on the achievement recorded by their predecessors.
