Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has congratulated Prof. Orji Uduma on his appointment as the Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
Nwifuru’s message was contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, and made available to newsmen on Monday.
The governor described the appointment, approved by the institution’s governing council, as a testament to Prof. Uduma’s outstanding academic pedigree and leadership qualities.
“This appointment reflects your sterling leadership, immense contributions to philosophical scholarship, and commitment to national development. Over the years, you have brought honor and pride to Ebonyi and Nigeria through your scholarship, intellectual rigour, and mentorship of younger academics,” the statement quoted Nwifuru as saying.
He expressed confidence that Prof. Uduma would bring his wealth of experience and integrity to bear in advancing NOUN’s mandate of promoting academic excellence and expanding access to quality education across the country.
The governor wished the new vice chancellor a successful tenure and prayed for God’s continued wisdom to guide him in his new role.
Prof. Uduma, who hails from Nguzu community in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, previously served as Director of the Abakaliki Study Centre of NOUN and later as the institution’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics).
