Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has expressed his administration’s readiness to partner with Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in the areas of education, agriculture, and capacity building for civil servants.
This was disclosed by Auwalu Umar, Director of Public Affairs at ABU, in a statement issued on Monday in Zaria.
Umar said the governor made the commitment while receiving the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, and other members of the university management during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Gusau.
An alumnus of ABU, Governor Lawal described the university as one of the best in the world, noting its high academic standards.
“Supporting one’s alma mater is both a duty and a service to humanity,” he said, adding that Zamfara would continue to rely on ABU for the expertise of its teaching and non-teaching staff.
He highlighted that the state had already benefited from the deployment of university experts to serve in various capacities within his government.
On agriculture, Governor Lawal said Zamfara would collaborate with ABU to promote mechanised farming. He also revealed plans to strengthen intellectual and capacity-building programmes for civil servants and senior government officials, noting that consultants had been engaged in the appointment of Permanent Secretaries in the state.
He thanked the vice-chancellor and his entourage for the visit and expressed optimism for deeper collaboration in the future.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Adamu Ahmed expressed the university’s willingness to partner with Zamfara in multiple areas to support the state’s development and advancement.
