Governor Mai Mala-Buni of Yobe has charged Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd), Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, to replicate successes he recorded as a former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) in diplomacy.
Mala-Buni gave the charge when Buratai paid him a courtesy visit, on Saturday in Damaturu.
He said the newly appointed ambassador was a worthy representative of Nigeria in Benin, noting that he would bring to bear his wealth of experience in discharging his duties.
“l have great confidence in your ability to build a viable and strong relationship between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin.
“Your Excellency, your meritorious service in the army has built a great confidence around you, which earned you this appointment as an ambassador by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“I wish you a very successful assignment in your new office and l am sure you will make Nigeria proud,” Mala-Buni said.
In a remark, Buratai thanked the governor for the support and encouragement when he served as the army chief.
“I thank you for the words of encouragement and I promise to do my best for an improved relationship between the two countries” Buratai said.
He congratulated the governor for what he tagged as “ exemplary leadership” of the party and the desire to take it to greater heights.
