Terrorists have killed a Police Officer, and Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), DSP Shitu Musa, the Zamfara State Command has confirmed.

According to the command in a statement by the spokesperson, ASP Yazeed Abubakar on Tuesday, the terrorists attacked the Zurmi Divisional office at Nasarawa Area of Zurmi local government area.

The policemen on duty were reported to have repelled the terrorists attack after a serious gun duel in which many of the terrorists were killed.

Abubakar said DSP Musa died on the spot, while two other police officers suffered gunshot injuries.

“While the bandits were retreating, they burnt down some houses and shops in the same area.

“Therefore, the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara Command, MD Shehu Dalijan has deployed adequate manpower to the area while reassuring all people of the state that the command under his leadership will continue to do its best in protecting lives and properties,” he added.
