Terrorists, on Thursday, attacked a police checkpoint and killed a police officer in Abakaliki.
The Police spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu, who confirmed the attack in Abakaliki, said the terrorists also set the police van ablaze at the checkpoint.
“It happened early on Thursday morning. I have been trying to get the details of what happened, but one police officer was killed and a vehicle was burnt.
“More details will be made available soon,” he said.
Abakaliki is the capital city of Ebonyi State in southeastern Nigeria, located 64 kilometres (40 mi) southeast of Enugu.

The inhabitants are primarily members of the Igbo nation.
