The operatives of the Department of Security Service (DSS) have invaded the headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and taken over the office of its governor, Godwin Emefiele.
The Department had since the order of the FCT High court to arrest Mr. Emefiele over alleged terrorism financing but the court had in December barred the Service from arresting, inviting, or detaining Mr. Emefiele.
Meanwhile, Emefiele has been out of the country for his annual leave which is expiring tomorrow, January 17.
Arriving at the CBN headquarters Monday noon, the SSS operatives came in with about 20 vehicles with armed personnel.
The operatives also barred all staff of the bank from gaining access to Mr. Emefiele’s office.
Peter Afunanya, the SSS spokesperson, is yet to respond to the query sent to him by our source.
