Sources hinted that the bandits attacked the community in the evening on Thursday when the community market was in full session and operated late into the night.
“The sting operation was conducted following credible intelligence and the suspect was neutralized in a gun battle with the troops.

Recall that the Okuama community in Ughelli South local government area, where the incident took place, was razed following the gruesome attack on the troops.

“They (the soldiers) killed over 20 of our fellow residents. Some of our buildings were razed. Many residents have fled and there are even dead bodies in the bush where we have been hiding. We want the government to come to our rescue.”
