The Cross River Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Sunday destroyed an eight-hectare Cannabis Sativa farm in Uyanga community, Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The Command’s spokesman, Sebastian Lebo, who made this known in a statement in Calabar, said the NDLEA team, accompanied by soldiers from the 13 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, also recovered 170kg of processed Cannabis from the farm.
Lebo added that the destruction was carried out a few days after a similar operation at Uwet, another community in Akamkpa LGA.

According to him, the Uwet farm spanned six hectares, where 15 tons of Cannabis were destroyed and 119kg of processed Cannabis recovered.
The statement noted that the State Commander, John Anteyi, commended the bravery of the officers and soldiers involved in the operation.
He also assured Nigerians that the NDLEA, under the leadership of Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), will continue to fulfil its mandate, especially in keeping Nigerian streets free of illicit drugs.
