The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has deployed 2,150 officers and men across the state to provide security and prevent vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The deployment follows the Federal Government’s declaration of Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
Speaking on the security arrangements, the Lagos State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, said the proactive deployment was necessary due to the expected influx of visitors, travellers, and residents moving within and into Lagos during the festive period.
According to him, the command has put in place operational strategies aimed at ensuring public safety, protecting critical infrastructure, and preventing criminal activities that could threaten the state’s economic growth and development before, during, and after the celebrations.
Keshinro said personnel have been strategically deployed across all formations of the command to secure strategic locations, public facilities, rights of way, oil pipeline installations, worship centres, parks, gardens, and other critical national assets.
He warned officers and men of the corps to remain vigilant and maintain a high level of alertness while carrying out their duties, stressing the need for professionalism, competence, and respect for the rights of citizens.
The commandant also congratulated Muslim faithful in Lagos on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir and urged them to embrace the values of sacrifice, prayer, compassion, sobriety, and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
He further called on worshippers to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria.
The NSCDC encouraged members of the public to remain security conscious and report suspicious activities through the command’s official communication channels and emergency phone lines.
Keshinro reiterated the corps’ public safety message, urging residents to “see something and say something” to support efforts aimed at ensuring a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Kabir celebration across Lagos State.
