The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu, has approved CSP Anietie Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).
The outgoing FPRO, DCP Anthony Placid, announced this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
Iniedu brings extensive experience in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, accountability, and administration.
He hails from Etinan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom and holds a B.Sc. in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo, obtained before joining the Nigeria Police Force.
Iniedu has undergone professional training in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, and human rights-based policing. He has also received training in strategic communication and intelligence analysis to enhance his policing and communication skills.
Before his appointment, he headed the Complaint Response Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he managed public complaints and promoted transparency initiatives that boosted public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
He previously served as Public Relations Officer at the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun, and held various operational and administrative roles nationwide, including Operations Officer in Yobe and Area Crime Officer in Umuahia, Abia.
Other positions include Staff Officer at the Inspector-General’s Secretariat, Force Headquarters, and Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa, Abuja. He also served as Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, coordinating nationwide security information.
The IGP expressed confidence in Iniedu’s ability to lead the Public Relations Department effectively. Disu stated that his experience would improve strategic communication and public engagement, supporting ongoing reforms and operational successes.
The new FPRO is expected to strengthen interaction between the police and the public.
