The Federal Fire Service (FFS) says that 28 lives were lost in 649 fire incidences in the last quarter of 2022.
Properties worth N23 billion were also destroyed in outbreaks within the same period.
The service in its statistical information said that a total of 29 lives were saved with 40 rescued and N145.4 billion estimated property saved within the period under review.
The statistics also showed that the causes of the fire incidents were due to various reasons, ranging from electrical equipment and high voltage from PHCN.
Others are illegal storage of petroleum products, bush fire, and electrical sparks, among others.
It said the affected areas include private dwellings, educational establishments, shops, and clubs.
Others are hotels, restaurants, factories, banks, petrol stations, transformers, oil/gas, timber sheds, automobiles, markets, and plane crash, among others.
