The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) said they have started looking into the explosion that happened at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) in Kaduna on Saturday.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, expressed sympathy to the families and friends of those who died. He also wished a quick recovery for the people who got hurt in the explosion.
The DHQ told the public not to worry because the situation is under control and there is no reason to be afraid.
Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information, said that the nearby community has been told that DICON follows strict safety rules.
In a statement from Abuja, Gusau said, “The Defence Headquarters regrets to tell the public about an explosion that happened at the DICON Kaduna site on the morning of 20 September 2025. Sadly, one person died and others were hurt.”
Early reports say the explosion happened while experts were destroying old and expired materials like Ammonia Nitrates, Primer Caps, Propellants, and other dangerous items.
The injured people are now getting treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, sent his condolences to the families of the dead and hopes the injured recover quickly.
The DHQ reassures everyone that the situation is safe and there is no reason to panic. They told the community again that DICON follows strict safety rules. The company promises to keep safety as a priority and will carefully investigate to stop future accidents.
