Sokoto government has confirmed that kidnappers abducted passengers in one of the State Transport Authority, SSTA, bus traveling from Gusau, Zamfara state capital.
The general manager of the transport agency, Yahuza Chika who confirmed the development to newsmen on Monday, however denied that three vehicles were involved, adding that he was not in position to make further comments on the incident.
According the passengers were kidnapped at Dogon Karfe area near headquarters of Talatan Mafara local government headquarters in Zamfara, while traveling to Sokoto from Gusau.
Chika said that the driver of the bus and one other passengers escaped unhurt while the rest of the passengers were abducted by the bandits.
In a related development, the chairperson of Wurno local government area in the state, Abubakar Arzika has confirmed that bandits blocked Wurno-Goronyo road on Sunday.
The chairperson who could not confirm the abduction of passengers, said two persons were killed during the incident.
The spokesperson of Sokoto Police Command, ASP Sanusi Abubakar could not be reached for comments.
