Lawmakers in Shiroro local government council of Niger state, have impeached the Chairman, Suleiman Chukuba.
AsheNews reports that the Chairman was removed for alleged misappropriation and embezzling of council funds.
Eleven of the 14 councillors, voted for Chukuba’s impeachment during their sitting, presided by the Leader of the House, Malam Yusuf Aliyu.
The council chairman was alleged to have withdrew and spent the local government’s Internally Generated Reverse (IGR), without following due process or receiving approval from the legislature.
