ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State Commissioner for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Mrs. Elizabeth Shaba has pledged to make micro, small and medium enterprises in the state a goldmine of the state’s economy.
Speaking during her resumption of office in Minna on Monday, the Commissioner said that the Ministry has the ability to improve on the economy of the state as MSMEs are its lifewire.
According to her, she intends to take action towards ensuring that businesses that have crippled in the state were revived back.
“We must not leave the ministry the way we met it. We will make maximum use of what we have and ensure that the ministry becomes a goldmine of Niger state economy.”
Shaba explained that the Ministry was formerly an agency but due to its viability to the economy of the state, the governor decided to upgrade it to a Ministry.
She warned the staff against lukewarm attitude, adding that those found engaging in activities that would set the Ministry backward would be dealt with.
The Permanent Secretary overseeing the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Dr. Joseph Kolo said that the mandate of improving MSMEs in the state, which was being implemented before, would be incorporated into the mandate of the new Ministry.
The staff assured the Commissioner of their maximum support and willingness to move the ministry forward.
