In discharging its corporate social responsibility, BUA Cement has supported seven Sokoto communities with N62 million worth of water supply and electrification projects.
The Managing Director of the company, Engr Yusuf Binji disclosed this on Tuesday while handing over a completed borehole to members of Gidan Gamba village in Wamakko local government area of the state.
Represented by the company’s Head, Administration and Corporate Services, Sada Suleiman, Binji said that each of the water projects at Gidan Gamba and Girabshe communities is comprised of two units of 10,000 gallons per day.
According to him, the electrification project covers Rugar Waru and Hundi Chebuwa villages in Wajaki District of Wamakko local government and Rijiyar Dorowa, Malikawa and Wangarawa communities in Sokoto South local government area.
The managing director, who said that the projects were to complement the efforts of the state government in providing good living condition to the people, also commended the state and local governments, as well as the host communities, for the cordial relationship with the company.
He said that BUA had been supporting communities in healthcare, skills training, provision of scholarship and educational materials, adding that the company had constructed hospitals, schools and roads, as well as provided water and electricity to different communities in the state.
The chairman of Wamakko local council, Bello Halliru commended BUA for the projects.
