An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Monday sentenced an 18-year-old bricklayer, Yusuf Idowu, to six strokes of the cane for stealing cocoa pods. Idowu was charged with unlawful entry and stealing, to which he pleaded guilty upon arraignment. The Magistrate, Mrs Gladys Oladele, found him guilty as charged and sentenced him to six strokes of the cane, taking into consideration his age. Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate production averaged 1.64 million barrels per day in the first 11 months of 2025. This is according to official data from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission’s (NUPRC) report titled “Crude Oil and Condensate Production 2025.” The report reveals that combined crude and condensate output totalled approximately 18.12 million barrels over the January to November period. The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) says it will review issues surrounding the suspension of its proposed strike within two weeks. The President-Elect, Dr Emmanuel Idoko, made the statement in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar on Monday.
