The federal government of Nigeria on Thursday has said that it would step up efforts on vaccination amid the rising cases of COVID-19 infections across the country. Torrential rain has destroyed no fewer than 1,567 farmlands on Tuesday in Jama’are local government area of Bauchi state. The rain which lasted for over 20 hours submerged farmlands and destroyed crops in seven villages in the area. The council’s chairman, Samaila Jarma confirmed the incident in Jama’are on Thursday. A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered Shell Petroleum Company to pay the sum of N45.9 billion to Ogoni people in Rivers state. Justice Ahmed Mohammed who gave the order on Wednesday held that the money, which is a cost awarded against the company several years ago for oil spillage in Ogoniland, must be paid within 21 days.
