World Health Organisation (WHO) has named the latest COVID-19 variant identified in South Africa, the Greek name ‘Omicron’, and labelled it a variant of concern due to its large number of mutations and possible faster rate of infection. WHO, in a statement on Friday, said that preliminary evidence also suggests an increased risk of reinfection with this variant of concern, as compared to other strains, such as Delta. Nigerian government has lifted the ban it placed on Emirates Airline from flying into Nigeria without conditions. The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika disclosed this in a statement by Mr James Odaudu, Director Public Affairs in the Ministry of Aviation on Saturday. UNICEF has declared that 152,243 children below five years of age are stunted in Enugu state. Its Planning and Monitoring Specialist, Enugu Field Office, Maureen Zubie-Okolo made the declaration at a policy dialogue with Enugu State Executive and Legislative Councils on Investment in Nutrition on Friday.
