Nigeria’s Supreme Court on Friday, declared the Executive Order 10 (EO10) issued by President Muhammadu Buhari on the funding of state judiciary and legislature as unlawful and unconstitutional. The apex court in a split decision outweighed by six of the court’s seven-member panel, said the president exceeded his constitutional powers in issuing the Executive Order 10. The decision therefore voided and set aside the EO10. According to the apex court, it was not the responsibility of the federal government to fund the capital and recurrent expenditures of the superior courts created for states under section 6 of the Nigerian constitution.…

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that importers of methanol blended Petroleum products to Nigeria must be held accountable. He issued the directive in a statement by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu on Thursday. According to Buhari, the persons involved must “be held accountable for substandard services and or products sold by them. “The relevant government agencies should take every step in line with the laws of the country to ensure the respect and protection of consumers against market abuses and social injustices.”
